TextaQueen: Unknown Artist - Art Collector

TextaQueen, Save Yourself, 2013. Felt tip marker, coloured pencil and acrylic paint pen on stonehenge cotton paper, 97 x 127cm. Courtesy: the artist and Sullivan + Strumpf, Sydney

TextaQueen’s nude portraits, predominantly of women, are executed in the humble and unforgiving marker pen and felt-tip pen on paper. In this new body of work Texta turns the mirror, concentrating exclusively on a series of self-portraits. This exploration of the personal evolution of identity incorporates graphic elements into largely fictional metaphorical inner narratives. TextaQueen has exhibited throughout the country and internationally and has brought her Textanudes to life in animation for the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and SBS TV Australia.
