THE ART OF ENGAGEMENT: CULTURE, COLLABORATION, INNOVATION
The Art of Engagement: Culture, collaboration, innovation - Art Collector
|26 September 2011 | Collaborative processes between artists, businesses and the community are the focus of The Art of Engagement: Culture, collaboration, innovation.|
This collection of essays includes documentation of works by four artists – Sylvie Blocher, Ash Keating, Jeanne van Heeswijk and Craig Walsh.
Between 2004 and 2010 Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art and three Western Sydney cultural institutions – Casual Powerhouse Arts Centre, Penrith Visual and Performing Arts and Campbelltown Arts Centre – joined together to form C3West.
C3West commissioned Blocher, Keating, van Heeswicjk and Walsh to produce works in partnership with businesses located in Western Sydney. These businesses included environmental and waste management companies along with a rugby league team.
“One of the things that I think drives C3West is trying to encourage new forms of practice and new forms of engagement that actually challenge the ways in which people interact with art,” explains Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, director of the MCA.
