The annual Churchie Emerging Art Prize announced 23 finalists in late July. The Churchie committee and Queensland University Technology Art Museum also announced that Kelly Gellatly will be this year's guest judge. Gellatly brings her expertise as director of Ian Potter Museum of Art, The University of Melbourne. In it’s 29th year, the prize received over 1,000 artworks from 445 entrants. Among the finalists is Leo Coyte of Galerie pompom, Sydney. Coyte will present an installation of 18 paintings from his Mystic Misfit series, recently exhibited at Galerie pompom.
The winner will be announced on Friday 19 August, and the exhibition continues at QUT Art Museum until 13 November 2016. Emma O'Neill
