| 27 July 2010 | Auckland-born but now Melbourne-based painter Tim McMonagle has won Geelong Gallery's $30,000 Fletcher Jones art prize. His work The happy song depicts a dishevelled, barefoot woman reclining on a heaped mound of worldly possessions, with discarded high heels and a plastic cup in the foreground. McMonagle was selected from a field of 42 other finalists including Yvette Coppersmith, Richard Lewer, Tony Lloyd, Victoria Reichelt, Nathan Taylor and Savanhdary Vongpoothorn. | ||||
