Located at the start of the Canning Stock Route, over 1,000 kilometres northeast of Perth, is the Tjukurba Art Gallery, home of the Birriliburu artists.

Birriliburu artists paint in a variety of styles and palettes, depicting stories that embody a rich culture of country, history and lifestyle. Images of the Canning Stock Route are often central to their work. Some of the artist’s designs have been transferred to fabric for commercial use and are sold around Australia in the Headsox range of headscarfs.

The Tjukurba Art Gallery promotes ethical practice in the sale of artist’s work and provides visitors with a rich and authentic experience, with the opportunity to view works available for purchase and to meet the artists painting on site.

The gallery is supported by the Shire of Wiluna and is an integral part of the Wiluna community. It provides a venue where artists can express and celebrate their culture and access professional support to create, display and sell their work.
