Established in 2008, Tjungu Palya is a community based art centre renowned for artistic excellence, cultural integrity and strong local governance. Based in the APY Lands 100 kilometres south of Uluru, the centre covers the Kanpi, Nyapari and Watarru communities and works with between 30 and 50 artists.

Set at the base of the majestic Mann Ranges in the heart of Pitjantjatjara country, the area's main language Pitjantjatjara translates literally as
good together, meaning the artists of three communities have joined forces to create and maintain a successful arts enterprise.

Tjukurpa (culture and ceremonial law) is at the centre of everyday life for anangu (people) living in the Pitjantjatjara Lands. It explains the creation of life and provides a guideline for living life well. There is a strong relationship between this deeply spiritual existence and the creation of art which has integrity, beauty and resonating power.
