Tom Moore: Life Preserver - Art Collector

Tom Moore, Wingnut Daikon, 2014. Hot joined, blown and solid galss, 51 x 29 x 13cm. Courtesy: the artist and Helen Gory Galerie, Melbourne

Tom Moore creates fantastical hybrid characters, each hand-blown in glass, which he places in enchanting mixed media landscapes. 'Life Preserver' is inspired by historical cabinets of curiosity in which biological oddities (sometimes faked) were highly prized. Offering a refreshing new twist on this idea, Moore’s vivid conglomerate creatures are placed in hand blown bell jars imbuing them with an aura of science and believability.
