Angels of the bottomless pit is a group of works by Melbourne based artist Tony Garifalakis which explore the apocalyptic notions of the antichrist in relation to conspiracy theory thinking. They focus on the modern day practice of identifying and naming the antichrist. Garifalakis uses a range of media including photography, collage, sculpture and installation to subvert and posit doubt in systems of belief, prophecy and religion while also questioning the often inter-related mechanisms of surveillance, compliance and control.
