11 October 2010 | Painter Euan Macleod is being recognised with a touring solo exhibition, which will present a selection of 47 works from 1991 to 2009.

Surface Tension: the art of Euan Macleod has been curated by Tweed River Art Gallery’s Gavin Wilson and will be launched at Sydney’s SH Ervin Gallery on 12 November 2010 before touring to a further four venues across eastern Australia over the next year.

It will be the first major touring exhibition for Macleod.

Wilson’s selection highlights Macleod’s use of iconography from the Australian bush and the land of his birth, New Zealand’s South Island, as well as his ongoing interest in dualities – for example, thick and thin pigments, Australia and New Zealand, father and son, absence and presence.

The exhibition also coincides with the launch of the monograph
Euan Macleod: The painter in the painting by Gregory O’Brien with a foreword by John McDonald, published by Piper Press.
