Vera Möller: Ahead of All Parting - Art Collector

Vera Möller, Blauette 2017. Oil on linen. 92 x 76cm. Courtesy of The Artist andSophie Gannon Gallery, Melbourne.

With an interest in biological illustration, Vera Möller uses natural shapes, patterns and colours to produce partlyplanned, partly random undersea forms — in both 2D and 3D form — that seek to remind us all of the beauty that can be found in the natural world.

Before migrating to Melbourne in 1986, Vera Möller studied biology, microbiology and theology in Wurzburg and Munich and taught biology and ethics in Bavaria. Möller then completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. She has exhibitedin Australia, Germany, Paris, Tokyo, New York and Helsinki. Her work is part of numerous private and public collections.

This newest body of work continues her exploration of the marine ecosystems around the Great Barrier Reef, which she describes as ‘poetically potent spaces…It’s alien to us; we can’t really go there and we can’t really stay there, but it can also be seen as the topography of the unconscious’.
