Waddell wins Mosman Art Award - Art Collector

10 August 2010 | Painter Craig Waddell has been named the winner of the Mosman Art Prize. He won the $20,000 for a painting of a protea flower.

“My recent body of work,” says Waddell, “has been heavily influenced by memory, emotion, the beautiful and sometimes strange organic forms found in nature and the erotically charged love poems written by the great Chilean writer Pablo Neruda.” His part-time job at the Sydney Flower Market was no doubt another inspiration.

Waddell was selected from a field of some 800 entries, 100 of which were selected for hanging. The award exhibition will be on view at Mosman Art Gallery until 29 August 2010.
