18 October 2010 | Work by Wade Marynowsky is currently on view in Poland as part of the Mediations Biennale in Poznan, Poland.

The self-described “hybrid media artist” will put forward a work titled
The Hosts: A Masquerade Of Improvising Automatons. “As the title suggests, the work is a masquerade ball for robots. a masquerade ball for robots,” explains Marynowsky.

He adds that the robotic theatre experience is partly inspired by ETA Hoffman’s The Sandman, in which a man falls in love with an automaton, and Professor Mori’s Uncanny Valley, which warned artists not too make robots too human-like.

The biennale closes on 30 October 2010.
