Warwick Clarke: Dargan - Art Collector

Warwick Clarke, Dargan I, 2006, type C print. Courtesy: the artist and Queensland Centre for Photography, Brisbane

Dargan lies between Bell and Lithgow in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Reservoirs were reconstructed at the turn of the century on Dargan Creek to collect water for the steam locomotives of the Great Western Railway.

Warwick imparts a bit of history that appreciates the manmade landscapes that helped build the nation. His photographic essay is also a call to reconcile one's place in the Australian landscape.
