Woollahra Sculpture Prize announces finalists - Art Collector

5 September 2011 | Forty-one finalists have been selected for the 2011 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, including Huseyin Sami, Lisa Roet and collaborative duo Ken & Julia Yonetani.

The shortlist is noticeably light on established artists. “The judging was based on work submitted rather than on past experience or performance,” says Gene Sherman, one of the judges for this year’s prize.

Young sculptor Julia deVille, who won the people's choice in last year's award, and Adam Cullen, who teamed up with Michael Binkins, were also among the finalists, along with Donna Marcus, Natalie Ryan, Belinda Winkler and Kensuke Todo.

The winner of the $10,000 prize will be announced on 21 October 2011. An award exhibition will run from 22 October to 6 November 2011 at the Woollahra Council’s buildings.
